Energie verdi: Bill Gates e altri milionari investono 1 miliardo di dollari in un fondo per le rinnovabili
È la risposta di Bill Gates, Jezz Bezos, Richard Branson e Jack Ma alle dichiarazioni d’intento del neo eletto presidente degli Stati Uniti, Donald Trump.
I quattro miliardari, già fondatori del Breakthrough energy coalition, hanno dato il via al più grande fondo di investimento in tecnologie verdi oggi esistente, il Breakthrough energy ventures fund.
“Per fornire energia affidabile e conveniente senza contribuire al cambiamento climatico dobbiamo ridurre le emissioni in cinque settori chiave: energia elettrica, trasporti, agricoltura, industria manifatturiera ed edilizia”, si legge sul sito ufficiale del fondo di investimento. “Abbiamo tracciato un panorama di innovazioni che riteniamo possano aiutare l’umanità a soddisfare queste sfide”.
È tempo di investimenti sostenibili
Il nuovo fondo, della durata di 20 anni, non avrà un solo segmento di investimenti. Sarà infatti “aperto” sia a startup che ad aziende già consolidate nel mercato.
Un approccio progettato per investire fondamentalmente nel settore energetico, tra cui la generazione di energia elettrica e lo stoccaggio, il trasporto, gli utilizzi da parte del sistema industriale, l’agricoltura e l’efficienza energetica.
Si calcola che il potenziale nel piatto sia pari a 170 miliardi di dollari, sommando il patrimonio dei maggiori partecipanti.
Un interesse dimostrato anche dagli stessi investitori italiani:il 68 per cento degli italiani, a parità di rendimento, preferirebbe l’investimento sostenibile.

Si tratta dell’ennesima dimostrazione di forza nei confronti di Trump, che invece si sta circondando di una squadra che si potrebbe definire quantomeno “fossile”.
Quella di Gates è solo l’ultimo dei record per quanto riguarda gli investimenti sostenibili. Lo confermano quei 118 miliardi di dollari investiti nel 2016 in green bond, ovvero nelle obbligazioni legate al contrasto dei cambiamenti climatici. O i 100 miliardi di euro impegnati dalla Banca europea per gli investimenti (Bei), che denota come le banche stiano prendendo un impegno di lungo periodo sulle questioni climatiche.
